Welcome to the 2008 Kenya Mission Team Blog!

BLOG UPDATED ON FRIDAY, JULY 4TH

We will be doing our best to update this blog as often as possible while in Kenya. Phone and internet services are extremely limited in the areas we will visit, but we will have access to this site throughout our time in country. We encourage you to leave us comments and messages on this site. We will not be able to respond to your comments individually, but a member of our team will be sure to deliver your messages.

How do I send a message to the team?

I'm glad you asked. Here are some basic instructions on how to leave a comment on the site (feel free to practice on this entry...your practice comment can easily be deleted by our webmaster).

To post a comment:

  • Go to the end of the entry to you want to leave a comment on.
  • Click on "Add Comment" or "1 Comment" or "2 Comments" (and so on and so forth...the number will change with each new comment added)
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will see a white text box.
  • Click the "Anonymous" bubble.

          screenshot

  • Type in your name (this is how we know who sent the message) and email (you will not receive Spam from Xanga)
  • Type your message into the white text box. (Be sure to identify who you are and if you have a specific message for a member of the team, be sure to address that person by using their first name)
  • Click "Submit" below the white text box.
  • You're done!

This posting will always be found as the top, or first entry, on the site to help aid you in posting comments to the team members. Remember, the team members read each and every comment and they appreciate all of them so feel free to send as many as you like!

Peace!

Hello Mission Team -- sending you good thoughts from hot and sunny Salem (it's 91 degrees today). Hard to believe that Annual Conference was less than a week ago. Hope you are all well. Much Love and prayers -- Cesie

Greetings from Indiana! God's blessings on your work! We were thrilled to see the photos, thank you to the computer people for keeping us connected. There is smoke in the Willamette valley from the fires in Sacramento, but here it is about 70 degrees and blue skies. Every day is a new day and a new chance to help someone else. My brother Karl Jernstedt says "hey" and he cant seem to work the site right now. Hugs to all of you and God's greatest blessings.
In Christ's love

Hello Team, We thought we sent a comment yesterday but I don't see it posted, so we will try again. We are glad that you are there safely. It looks like you are making fast work of the home. We are glad to see the sign for the Free Clinic, we know the turnout will be large. It was good to see the home that we built two years ago and that the grandma is still smiling. Say hello to Charles, (the head of the hospital construction workers) if he is still there, from Ted. The pictures show you all looking fit and working strong after your long flight. Our prayers are with you all as you continue to with your mission. We will be following your progress on the website. WE hope the weather there has been cooperative to your jobs, not too hot or cold or buggy. Keep up the good work, and waiting to here of your adventures when you return.

Dear Team members;

We pray for you each day and think of you each night. We wonder what stars you are looking at. We thought we had posted about four other times but only see one. My sister Steffie had trouble getting on the site too and is thinking of you.

It is a beautiful week in Indiana and we watched the fireworks on tv and outside in the yard. We are happy to have a little time to relax between days at work.

We really appreciate the time it takes to send us that detail in the blog. By the time you get this you will be in Meru, maybe you could tell us what time it is there compared to Portland. Thanks for the great works you do for us.

In Christ's love,
Noma Jernstedt

Hello Kenya  Team,

It was great seeing the pictures and hearing about what you have been doing. We have has some nice weather here in Salem this last week.  Bob and I went hiking up at Opal creek today and had a wonderful time. We thought about the team and wanted to let you know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Sunday at the underground we had several new people and Kirks message was great. We love our church and are so proud of all that you are doing to represent us.  Sleep good at the farm and tell John and  Janet hello for us. Sue dont for get you can try again to milk that cow!  Be safe all of you.

Well hello again team,

I tried to send a message earlier but I don't know that I did it correctly so I will try again. We had another hot week and Sunday at church was also hot. We had all the fans going and made it through ok. We enjoyed the guest preacher from McClarin (not sure on spelling) He gave us some insight on his ministry of sharing with the young boys and men (15-25year olds) that are locked up. He told of some interesting stories and lives that have been effected by his ministry. Tonight as Bob and I went walking we saw a big beautiful red sky. It reminded me of the big red moon we saw in Africa when we were at the farm. It might be a bit early to see that now.  Hope you are all enjoying the farm. I wonder if that big spider is still outside the kitchen window? And how about the puppies! Might have some new ones by now. Hope our tree is doing good and the corn too.  We pray that all of you are in good spirits, good health and have a safe journey home. Take care! God bless the wonderful work you are all doing.
