Dear Kenya Mission Team,
I decided to click on to UMOI site and then Western Dist. so learned about your trip. I remember a trip to Maua and Meru 24-26 years ago. The hospital then used a generator portions of the day for electricity. The nursery for preemies was an overheated room with cubicles stacked on one wall and lined with what the English call cotton wool. Kay Buescher and I were on a mission tour following the World Methodist Conference. We were taken into the delivery room where one woman had just given birth and another was about to do so. There were also two cots in the room, each occupied by two women and their infants. As an RN, Kay was shocked that we were taken into the room and at the conditions. We learned that women walked miles to have their babies there and often walked home again the following day. The nurses trained at the hospital were in demand throughout the country because of their good training. Neither of us will ever forget the exper
